Summer has come and passed....

Wow! It's truly crazy to think that summer is already over! So much has gone on that I don't even know where to begin!

Dallin (my big brother) and Katie got married on July 31, 2010. It was a wonderful day and they looked awesome and happy!

The reception was in my parent's backyard. There were tents with pretty lights and it looked dreamy inside!

There was also a dance floor in the middle which was so awesome and fun!

Tim ended up MC-ing! He did an awesome job and looked pretty hot up there, I have to say.

The cake came together nicely which I was very nervous about. I thought for sure it was gonna topple over or something, but it didn't and Katie loved it so I was happy. On the top I put the doves that my Grandma kept from my parent's wedding cake which was a little sentimental touch.

My sisters and I sang "The Way I Am" by Ingrid Michaelson which is a great song about loving someone just the way they are. My cousin Jonny is playing for us and my cousin Megan played the bongo drums.

The very next day after the wedding my family, Tim and I went down to ECHO Lake my favorite place to go in the summer!

A few weeks later we went down to Southern Alberta, yet again, for the Low Family Reunion at Payne Lake near Waterton. I spent tons of time in Waterton with my cousins as a kid and it was just like old times!

Now we are back in Edmonton and Tim is in school. I'm enjoying some relaxing and getting ready time before school starts for me next week. I am going to miss summer very much, but am so happy that's it's been a great one. It's always nice to get back into a routine and to have a new fresh start. I'm doing one of my practicums this semester for school and am very excited to start. However, I am not excited about the weather getting cold and ugly again. I love sunshine and flowers. I love the smell of freshly cut grass, the barbeque and sunscreen. I love looking out on the lake at sunset and seeing the calm beautiful, peaceful lake. I love blasting the music on the boat while we go surfing. I love going for bike rides with Tim. I love Ruby doing laps in our back yard. I love weeding my flowers while Tim mow's the lawn and then admiring our work afterwards. I love going for runs on a summer morning. I love pitching my tent with my husband. I love everything about Summer. I'm going to miss it.

But I also am very excited for the fall....

Kids say the darndest things!

I love kids. I work with them and I get to teach them on sundays! Primary is the best place to be, I love it. The kids teach me so much. So today my sharing time was about Jesus and the good things he did and we were talking about the miracles he performed. I had the kids look at pictures depicting a story of Jesus and then tell the story to everyone. These two twins had the story of the 10 lepers. They came up to the front and one of them started, "There were 10 cheetahs with a disease that made their skin fall off and Jesus healed them but only one cheetah thanked him." haha. Awesome. I think the funniest part is that he was picturing cats with their skin falling off and Jesus healing them. It definitely made my day.

Meet Ruby!

Meet RUBY!

This is our new puppy, Ruby! We got her today after church! She's a 5 month old Border Terrier. We love her already! We've been looking into dogs and different dog breeds lately and this was our favorite one. It's the perfect mixture of what Tim and I both like in dogs. So playful and great with kids, nice and small, doesn't shed and hypoallergenic! They are super expensive to get as a puppy, but we found Ruby on Kijiji for 300 already potty and kennel trained, and can already sit and fetch! It was the perfect situation for us. We're saving a thousand dollars and she came with all her shots done. The people who bought her initially say she's great with kids, and she's really obedient. They had to sell her because they're splitting up and needed to great rid of her asap, hence the sweet deal. She came with food, a kennel, some treats and a leash so we are literally good to go! She's still a crazy little puppy and gets really excited. She loves everyone and loves to play! Also, we have yet to hear her bark (I'm lovin that part) it's soo nice! I don't love yappy dogs...

I do love dogs, but really Tim was the one pushing it. He loves her!

Cakes, Picnics and Father's Day

Soooo....here's what's been going down...

The last few months have been wonderful! We've been enjoying the nice (sometimes rainy) weather and keeping very busy with work. I've finished my school board job and am excited to start working at the YMCA doing Day Camps with kids! I'm getting paid to play with kids all day.... The only rule they told us was lose a kid...lose your job...so I hope not to misplace anyone's child. Tim is still busy working at Weiss Johnson Sheet Metal. He really enjoys it except for when metal or wood falls on his face...ouch! A few weeks ago he had a pretty rough time, he got injured every day! He came home one day and said "Ash, I'm scared to go to work tomorrow, what's gonna happen?" haha poor guy. Luckily he hasn't been badly injured...and I keep telling him to wear safety goggles but he's too tough for them I guess...

This is the first summer being together that we actually have time to enjoy the nice weather! We are loving every minute of it. We also no longer have ANY channels on our TV, so we're outside doing things a lot! We went on a picnic last week and it was beautiful outside...We used this awesome picnic set we got from my Aunt for our wedding. It was awesome!

I've also been busy making cakes lately. I'm making my brother's wedding cake and so I've been practicing different things and recipes! I'm excited but also nervous about it. These are a few of the projects I've worked on. I've got lots to learn but it sure is fun doing it!

This cake I made for the primary president in our ward who had a brain aneurysm a few weeks ago and had a really bad head ache for over a week! I thought I'd pixie her a cake to her and family as well as try a new recipe. I'm good at killing two birds with one stone like that. :) I was trying to figure out what to write on top of it, and this is what Tim and I came up with. I love dry humor...

This was a cake my sisters and I made for our dad! It has all of his favorite things on it! That includes the Eiffel Tower (France), Ellie (his dog), basketball, popcorn, nachos (with salsa included), running, black licorice and... a tie cause he's a dad? haha. It was so much fun making it with them!

We were most proud of the popcorn we made out of fondant that looked like real popcorn! I also had this edible yellow powder that looked like butter that we added. Maybe we had a little too much time on our hands but it was hilarious and my dad loved it!
